Judo
Judo (meaning the gentle way) is an Olympic sport that will teach your children discipline, self-confidence, agility and coordination.
The program is specifically designed and follows the Judo Canada long term athlete development curriculum for kids ages 4+ years.
-
A competitive form of self-defense that teaches students to use their opponent's weight and strength against him.
- Sel-defense
-
Taught as a competitive sport, judo teaches kids how to throw a partner using balance and leverage and helps them learn self-control and respect for their opponent
The class begins with a warm up; consisting of movements forwards, backwards and sideways, push ups, sit-ups and breakfalls. The students then learn or review a technique leading into randori. Randori is when two students train together to try to takedown each other and hold each other down with control. The students have a lot of fun doing this part of class because they can practice the techniques they know. It also gives the students a chance to learn and try new techniques and teach each other. The students receive stripes on their belts which leads to color belts. Once the student receives their yellow belt, they are able to compete in tournaments monthly.
